Cheaper gas sounds good, doesn’t it? Well, the LSU Ag Center may have it figured out.

They’re hoping to crank up a machine called the Bio-Pro 190 next week to make bio-diesel fuel.

Right now, they’re collecting used vegetable oil from one of the LSU cafeterias.

The oil will cycle through the machine, and in about 24 hours, they can have 50 gallons of bio-diesel.

“It’s a big savings. We can make it for about $1.50 a gallon on some used oil. Long way to $3.50 having to pay right now with diesel prices,” says Dr. Bill Carney.

Farmers plan to use the fuel to run their tractors, but Dr. Carney says it can run in cars, too.

We’ll keep you updated on their progress.

I seriously feel , using food as bio fuel , will torn apart nations.

I use used cooking oils in my Cummins diesel. It runs stronger and gets better mileage. I mix 30 gallon of oil with gallon and half of kerosene, half gallon of gasolene,(those two are for thinning and may require a little more depending upon the thickness of the oil on different times of the year. It gets cold here in the winters)an ounce of mineral spirits, an ounce of naptha, and 8 to 24 ounces of cetane. I spent just over $600. on filters, pumps, hoses, storage and mixing tanks, and etc. hardwares to complete the system for a safe and effective unit. It works great, I can control the output power a little, and it costs me around 75 to 80 cents a gallon. The biggest problem is finding the used oil. I do not use animal fats oils as it requires methonal to refine it. I do not desire to go down that road. I’ve just lately began to offer $1.00 a gallon for the oils. This is likely going to be the trend from now on as the word spreads on the Veg Bio. Recycling is VERY important for the future of this nation. Veg Oil will add it’s footprint towards the reduction Global Warming with the reduction of the harmful emisson gases. Thank You for doing the research and hopefully you will come forward with even a better solution than we have on the usage of Bio products.
