The race trade in America - Get your money for nothin’ and your chicks for free
John McWhorter has a great opinion piece in the New York Sun this morning. Titled Racism in Retreat, he states his well thought out position on why he does not believe racism in this country to be the problem many would have us believe.
In response to Barack Obama’s winning the democrat party’s nomination, McWhorter writes, “His victory demonstrates the main platform of my race writing. The guiding question in everything I have ever written on race is: Why do so many people exaggerate about racism?”
I’ve not had the opportunity to read all of McWhorter’s ‘race writings,’ so I don’t know if he has addressed the issue of today’s race industry as a whole. There is much money and power to be found within this lucrative industry. One need look no further than the Reverend Jesse Jackson, Reverend Al Sharpton, Reverend Jeremiah Wright. See a pattern here?
Is it no wonder Barack Obama, who was not a church goer until joining Trinity, believes all black churches around this great nation to be as outrageous, and ugly as the one he was a member of for 20 years? Is it no wonder he does not find his former racist church to be worthy of denouncement? These are the outspoken religious leaders in the black community. These are the news makers.
I also do not know if McWhorter has discussed the tactics used by these profiteers. In order for them to make a good living in this industry, they must generate racial animosity and discord, while creating or capitalizing on unfortunate events.
What is so grevious is the sad fact that these purveyors of racial strife either do not care, or are oblivious to, the damage they do to “their own people.” I find it is amazing and appalling, that the wisdom and truth coming from those such as Bill Cosby, Thomas Sowell, or Clarence Thomas is shouted down, mocked and ridiculed.
It is stunning to watch the crowds erupt in glee as those such as the “Rev” Jeremiah Wright goes on his whoa-is-us, anti-white, anti-Semitic, anti-American, oft times vulgar tirade behind his pulpit. The anger emanating from him, and those who hear his words, is astonishing. I shudder to think of the long- term effects these words of hate will have on the young who hear them every Sunday. Of course, I suppose we already know.
I hear no optimism for the future, coming from these fabricators. I hear no acknowledgement of the greatness of this country today, and the amazing opportunities for all that will work hard to seek their dreams. Instead, they blame the generic “white man” for the black on black crime. They blame the generic “white man” for their broken families, drug abuse, lack of education, etc.
At no time do they acknowledge the great and substantial changes that have taken place in this country as whole. At no time do they acknowledge the racial barriers that have been broken. At no time do they acknowledge the need for personal responsibility. At no time do they acknowledge consequences for bad choices. At no time do they acknowledge choice at all. No, they do not make these acknowledgments, and they will certainly not promote them. Why? There’s no money in it.
If these people truly care for their own, why are they not standing up to their own? Why do they continue to excuse inexcusable bad behavior? Why not stand up and say “no more.” This is what we expect from you. We are not second- class citizens. We have fought hard for your future, and we expect you to take advantage of it. We expect you to put down the guns, put down the drugs, be parents to your children, go to school, get a job, work hard and integrate yourself into this great society. If you choose not to carry your own weight, fine. Step aside, and get out of the way. But, don’t expect us to carry you. The free ride is over.
Of course, as the CEO’s of this highly profitable industry sit each night in their million dollar mansion’s, they are always on the prowl for the next opportunity. With dollar signs in their eyes, they look forward to the next time one of their “own” is shot, or violated in some way by “whitey.” By any means necessary, right?
