Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal Keeps His Campaign Promises

BY VIRGINIA H. SHANAHAN

After much outrage from the populace, Governor Bobby Jindal announced this morning that he has kept his campaign promise, and vetoed the Legislative pay raise that was to take affect July 8. We are glad to hear it.

The public reaction to his initial refusal to veto this piece of legislation was swift and intense. There can be no doubt the extraordinarily zealous response caught the new Governor by surprise.

One has to wonder if Jindal understands and appreciates why his supporters reacted with such immediate retaliation. Governor Jindal is viewed by many within the state, and this nation, as the man to restore power to the people, and bring true conservatism from the brink of extinction. But more than that he is not viewed as a politician. He is known as a gentleman, a scholar, and a statesman. Let us hope he keeps it that way.

After we (the voters) elect politicians, we expect them to act on our behalf. I’m glad he’s decided to shut this nonsense down!
