Obama, Get Some Class
BY VIRGINIA H. SHANAHAN
For over a year we have heard Obama refer to himself as the unifier, as division and controversy swell around him. Some he creates intentionally. The rest a natural reaction to his words and actions. As he attempts to flounder across the finish line, with the half-hearted aide of Hillary Clinton, the democrat party is split in half. The separation appears beyond repair.
This destruction within his own party and country is not enough for Barack Obama. He must now carry his divisiveness over to Germany. The issue? Obama wants to invade Germany and give a speech at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. Traditionally only elected U.S. Presidents have ever been permitted to speak there. This is the site of Ronald Reagan’s famous “Tear down this wall,” speech. Bill Clinton and John F. Kennedy gave addresses there as well. This has caused great uproar among the German’s - some for, most against.
The proper, sophisticated, and classy thing for Barack Obama to do is remove the option from the table. Find another place to speak that will not cause divide within Germany. There is a tradition in Germany, and though obviously irrelevant to Obama, it’s about time he show some respect for the traditions of others.
Merci beaucoup. Or should I say Danke schön!
