Liberals hold no monopoly on hypocricy. You can't be disdainful of the liberal media jumping on unsubstantiated stories when you so willingly, even jubilantly engage in it yourself. I am often bemused at one side of the political spectrum blaming it's poor behavior on prior similarly poor behavior by the other side. Who will have the class to stand up and cease the bad behavior first.

And who will actual have real compassion for the wife who is indeed home with cancer enough to say; I'm going to leave this kind of mud slinging to others because it's not constructive and I have better things to spend my time on?

Evidently not you.

yeah, the media is undoubtedly biased with a liberal slant, but there are other issues at hand. For one, there have been enough promiscuity stories circulating about politicians lately, which reduces the interest in this story - The Limbaugh story got more of a ride because oxycontin could easily be associated with him due to his more unique situation. Sadly enough, media outlets could probably get more publicity out of milking Edward's wife-with-cancer story than out of this story, and I strongly believe that the media's first interest is their ratings.
Also, the type of celebrity of the individual matters. Limbaugh is somebody that most people on the left and many people on the right would not mind judging for his problems, due to his crass nature. Edwards portrays himself as having more of a kind nature. But yeah, I'm sure that the media very hesitant to pursue this story, though if indisputable evidence came out, they would publicize it, since they wouldn't really have much of a choice.
