Last Post Before I Evacuate

Published by Max Steel under Uncategorized Edit This

Good morning to all of my readers. I wanted to make one last post before shutting down the computer and walking out the door. Though I am not in the direct line of the hurricane, my little part of the world is still in the band and a mandatory evacuation has been given. Considering my location, I shall be heeding the warning.

I want everyone to be smart and be safe.

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, being a chance at redemption, is on the ball this time. He just held a press conference and stated that all looters will be transported directly to the Big House (Angola Prison) and put in general population. No doubt the ACLU is reved up and gearing up to fight him.

It also appears that he will be staying for this one. As most recall, he was in Houston I believe (somewhere in Texas safe and sound) when Katrina hit and during the aftermath.

Thank God for Governor Bobby Jindal’s quick action and great planning. Good job Mayor Ray Nagin this go round. So far, so good.

President George Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney will not be at the RNC, scheduled to being tomorrow. They will be staying behind in order to push the go button if necessary, after Gustav hits. First Lady Laura Bush will be sent instead.

As for me, I shall be watching the RNC from the safety of a hotel room up north. I am concerned about tornadoes. Unlike hurricanes there is no advance warning. But, what can you do?

I hope to have internet access while there. If so, I will post. If you don’t hear from me for a few days have no fear. I will be fine. I say this because when my computer crashed a week or so ago, I was surprised - and flattered- by the amount of email I received checking on me. In the event something tragic does happen, arrangements have been made for someone to log on and let you know. But, I don’t foresee that happening.

When Katrina hit my area was out of power for a month. Yes, a whole month. That was nothing nice. Let’s hope for no repeat.

Anyway, I want you all to be smart and stay safe.

One response so far
