Obama Concedes To Offshore Drilling. Or Does He?
Barack Obama has moved past inflating your tires and tuning your engines. Realizing he is on the losing side of a huge issue he has yet again moved closer to the center. Moving past his absolute refusal to allow offshore drilling, Obama told a Florida crowd yesterday he is willing to support limited additional offshore oil drilling if that’s what it takes to enact a comprehensive policy to foster fuel-efficient autos and develop alternate energy sources. Considering 70% of the country as a whole and over 50% of Californians support offshore drilling he has no choice.
Is this yet another issue on which Obama and McCain have now had a meeting of the minds. Remember, it was just a few days ago Obama claimed we could save as much by inflating our tires and tuning our vehicles as we could obtain by drilling. Of course, he is wanting to plunder from the “windfall profits.” Think of the big money he could steal from them if they are able to drill more.
Don’t buy it people. The democrats want high gas prices. This guy has made it quite clear he likes high gas prices. He wants high gas prices. He only wishes the price had raised at a slower rate.
Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell asks that the Senate consider a bill to allow offshore drilling, but Democrats, led by Sen. Ken Salazar (D-CO) object.
Sen. McConnell then asks if the bill could be triggered when gas reaches $4.50 per gallon, then $5 per gallon, then $7.50 per gallon, and finally $10 per gallon. All objected to.
So how high does the gas price have to be for Democrats to agree to more oil drilling?
