Sign The Petition: Call Congress Back, Madame Speaker
As you know last Friday Democrats voted to go on a five week, taxpayer funded vacation, while refusing to allow an up or down vote on offshore drilling. In the meantime we Americans are left with high gas prices (though they are coming down). Republicans stayed behind. Even after Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House, pulled a stunt that would make Stalin proud when she ordered the lights out, microphones and cameras off and their eviction from the building, Republicans have remained.
Some Democrats have now come out in support of offshore drilling. It is being reported by the Politico that Nancy Pelosi is telling these Democrats that if they must publicly support offshore drilling to save their political career then do so. She will be the lightening rod that takes the heat. In response the Republicans challenged all democrats supporting offshore drilling to join them in Washington, on the House floor, and demand Pelosi call Congress back into session in order to have an up or down vote on drilling. So far, they have all declined.
Listen to this August 4, 2008 interview with Nancy Pelosi. She is asked 10 times by George Stephanopolis why she will not permit a straight up or down vote on off shore drilling. Ten times she refuses to answer. In her arrogance, stupidity, and absolute lack of concern for the everyday citizen, she has decided to say screw you I am going to “save the planet.” However, she is smart enough to know, but not acknowledge, that with an up or down vote offshore drilling will pass.

On this site you will find a petition demanding Queen Nancy and her loyal jesters come back and give an up or down vote on offshore drilling. Show your support for the cause. SIGN THE PETITION.
In the meantime, Pelosi is spending her taxpayer funded vacation touting her failed book. How great it would be were she to be met by protesters demanding she heed the calls of the citizens, call Congress into special session, and give an up or down vote on offshore drilling. It’s time to cut the head off the snake. Nancy Pelosi is up for reelection this year. She is not concerned because she deems her opponent not viable. If Congress is not back in session by the end of the week I call on everyone to donate to Nancy Pelosi’s opponent Cindy Sheehan. If you can I also urge you to get out and actively campaign for Cindy Sheehan (Yes, I know. How do you sell that?).

I believe that the republicans are staying on the floor more for a PR stunt more than anything though.. They have no real ideas how to solve this crisis in my opinion.. Offshore driling won’t help us in the short term or long term, it is a stop gap measure.
Great post, yes we need to sign the petition. It is amazing that the democrat controlled congress will not even do their job and vote. I cannot believe that they do not care about the American people and rather go on vacation.
All this does is show that the republicans really care about people and not their political agenda. Drilling for oil now is a great temporary solution while we search for alternative energy sources!
