Pride Really Does Goeth Before The Fall - Just Ask Barack Obama
These past few months the world of politics has
been a sight to behold. The world saw first hand
how a star is born. Barack Obama had a marketing
team like none had ever seen before. He was
untouchable. He was convinced the media praises
of self were true. He was who we were waiting for.
We watched, astounded, as he came in from nowhere
and dethroned the Clintons. There was a new boss
in town and he had no room for the likes of them.
The Clintons were shot down, dismissed, and
eventually ignored.
We watched as he gave his acceptance speech in a
huge football stadium, staged with Greek columns,
full of pomp and circumstance, and filled to the
highest rafter. Gleefully we were reminded of the
huge historical turnout. This guy was unstoppable.
Unbeatable. This election was a done deal.
Barack Obama, in all his youth, inexperience, and
arrogance was to be the next President of the United States, and maybe even King of the world.
No one ever saw it coming. As an aged warrior named
John McCain approached him, Obama raised his chin to
the sky and scoffed. Who is this old man that believes
he shall dent my amour? The country laughed and mocked
the old warrior. Little did Obama, or the country
know, the old warrior had found Obama’s weakness and
the laughter was about to be replaced with wails of
disbelief and horror.
The events transpiring are what classic literature
and great movies are all about. As I laid in bed last
night watching “The Patriot” (who couldn’t after
hearing McCain’s acceptance speech) I had to chuckle
because Benjamin Martin (aka John McCain) had found
the weakness of Lord Cornwallis (aks Barack Obama).
MARTIN
I’ve just been inside the mind of a
genius. Lord Cornwallis knows more
about war than I could in a dozen
lifetimes.
BILLINGS
Cheerful news to greet the morn.
MARTIN
His victories at Charleston and
Camden were perfect, strategically,
tactically, logistically. But he
has a weakness.
They all turn to Martin.
MARTIN
Lord Cornwallis is brilliant. His
weakness is that he knows it.
GABRIEL
Father?
MARTIN
Pride is his weakness.
The men consider that.
DELANCEY
Personally, I’d would prefer
stupidity.
MARTIN
Pride will do.
Barack Obama is no Lord Cornwallis. He is not brilliant, he has never been on a battle ground, and he certainly has much to learn. However, like Cornwallis, Pride is Obama’s weakness and the humble aged warrior, whose own pride was once his downfall, knew it and knew how to use it as an effective tool of warfare. The old man has stripped Obama bare. The only remaining question are does the aged warrior and his fellow fighters have the stamina to see this fight through, and if so will the aged warrior finish off his opponent or allow him to live to see another election.
