The Dangers Of Politicizing “Troopergate”

In their quest to destroy Sarah Palin the politician, her opponents are hurting victims of abuse everywhere. I am not referring to the sexist comments or even the personal attacks made on Sarah and her family. I am referring specifically to what is becoming known as “Troopergate.”

Sarah has a sister named Molly McCann. Molly was married to an Alaskan State Trooper named Michael Wooten. Together Molly and Michael had two children. They eventually divorced and like many divorces today it became nasty. Both parties made harsh allegations against the other. However, the most disturbing of those allegations were those of abuse against Michael Wooten.

Thirteen complaints were made against Wooten. Police investigated and found him guilty of committing four of them. As a result he was given a 10 day suspension. Upon appeal by the Police Union it was knocked down to 5. They are:
