Windfall Profits or Windfall Taxes: Theft is Theft
Word has it the very politicians responsible for getting us into this mess are now proposing that not only we bail out the institutions that knowingly and purposely made and bought bad loans, but they also want to permit these people to remain in the homes they can not pay for, and pay for student loans, cars, etc. Is it any wonder why democrats continue to be democrats? Christmas always comes early in an election year and boy is the gift bag huge this year.
It is being reported in the news that the FBI is investigating the leaders of the companies that are currently failing. Will they also be investigating the politicians that permitted this to happen by blocking any and all oversight, while taking money from these companies in the form of campaign contributions? Will any incriminating evidence be turned over to the proper authorities? For some reason, I doubt it.
I am furious about this. I have yet to hear a clear, concise reason why we should be bailing out these companies. Why? There is not one. These same politicians invoking fear in the public are very same politicians that put us in this mess. The fact is that no one knows what will occur if we do not bail out these institutions.
The dirty little not-so-secret is that nothing has failed yet. There is no crisis yet. They claim to be trying to avert a crisis. Seems to me they would have done this at some point in the past 11 years that they have been warned this was going to happen. They didn’t. Now, not knowing what will happen if they do or don’t bail out these companies they are prepared to steal billions and billions of dollars from the hardworking American taxpayer for an early Christmas. Well, what happens if this “windfall tax” on the public does not work? How do we pay for the next bailout? Where will the next “windfall tax” on the public come from?
If and when a “helping hand” from the government is required we can deal with it then. In the meantime, let these companies fail. Let us see what happens.
Shut down Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac- for good. They have out served their usefulness and purpose.
Those that purchased homes that could not afford them, let them face the consequences. Move them out. Put the home on the market. They, like millions of others, can rent until they can afford a good down payment and a mortgage. Remember home ownership is not an entitlement.
There should be no more government student loads. Once the government gets out of that business of education, education will once again be affordable. As long as these Universities know they have federal dollars coming they will continue to jack the cost of attendance. Remember, education is not an entitlement.
Finally, investigate and prosecute those politicians that were paid by these companies, via campaign contributions, to look the other way.
This is the change we need.
