Death of Jett Travolta
For those who are not aware, John Travolta and wife Kelly Preston, lost their 16 year old son this weekend in a tragic accident. It appears he may have suffered a seizure while in the restroom. According to reports he may have fallen and hit his head which caused his untimely death.
Travolta and Preston are Scientologists. Reports have been made that Scientologists do not medicate, for whatever reason, and that Jett Travolta was not on any anti-seizure medication for religious reasons.
I have seen comments in many quarters assaulting these two who are mourning the loss of their son. I have actually read comments from people who state that these two should be charged with murder.
According to TMZ.com, Jett suffered a severe seizure disorder and was in fact put on Depakote for many years. It eventually lost its effectiveness and he was taken off of it, which is only logical.
Regardless, for people to attack these parents who have lost their child to a tragic accident is repulsive enough, but like it or not there still does exist in this country such a thing as “parental rights.” Parents do in fact have the right to decide for themselves the course of treatment they feel is best for their posterity.
May the Travolta’s find peace and strength.
