Burris Denied Seat At U.S. Senate

Published by Max Steel at 10:45 am under Uncategorized Edit This

This is getting so good. Harry Reid has unconstitutionally denied Burris entrance into the Senate.

Roland BurrisWe are a nation of laws, not a nation of men. Governor Blagjoveich is the Governor of Illinois. He has been convicted of nothing.

Reid does not have the constitutional right or authority to deny Burris entrance because he does not like the choice of the Governor. The only power the Senate has is to expel a sitting senator and you cannot expel someone simply because you do not like who appointed them.

I hope this makes its way to the Supreme Court so I can see Reid yet again knocked on his arse.

The nomination certificate for Burris was hand-delivered to the Secretary of the Senate, but it was not accepted because it did not have Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White’s signature on it. White previously refused to certify Burris because he was picked by Gov. Rod Blagojevich, now a criminal defendant.

But that has not stopped Burris from forging ahead.

“As I read the U.S. Constitution,” he said on CBS’s “The Early Show” earlier Tuesday, “it says the ‘governor shall fill a vacancy, and as a former attorney general of my state, I have no knowledge of where a secretary of state has veto power over a governor carrying out his constitutional duties.’”

Burris also maintained that the announcement by Blagojevich Monday of a date for an election for a successor to Rep. Rahm Emanuel, D-Ill., proves the governor still has legal authority to carry out his duties. Emanuel will be Obama’s White House chief of staff.

“There’s nothing wrong with Roland Burris and there’s nothing wrong with the appointment,” Burris said.

Burris earlier disclosed that his aides have tried unsuccessfully to reach members of President-elect Obama’s team to discuss the issue surrounding his appointment.

Impeach Reid, Now. What a Cheney-esque move by Reid to think he is bigger than the prevailing laws of the land. And to do so on purely moral grounds makes Reid the biggest hypocrite of the 2009, so far. Reid better make sure he crosses every T and dots every I from now on or the republicans, and us democrats are going to chew him up.
