Pelosi Erases Gingrich’s Long-Standing Fairness Rules

Published by Max Steel at 9:00 am under Uncategorized Edit This

Nancy PelosiHouse Speaker Nancy Pelosi plans to re-write House rules today to ensure that the Republican minority is unable to have any influence on legislation. Pelosi’s proposals are so draconian, and will so polarize the Capitol, that any thought President-elect Obama has of bipartisan cooperation will be rendered impossible before he even takes office.

Pelosi’s rule changes — which may be voted on today — will reverse the fairness rules that were written around Newt Gingrich’s “Contract with America.”

In reaction, the House Republican leadership is sending a letter today to Pelosi to object to changes to House Rules this week that would bar Republicans from offering alternative bills, amendments to Democrat bills or even the guarantee of open debate accessible by motions to recommit for any piece of legislation during the entire 111th Congress. These procedural abuses, as outlined in the below letter obtained by HUMAN EVENTS, would also include the repeal of six-year limit for committee chairmen and other House Rules reform measures enacted in 1995 as part of the Contract with America.

Reader: What great spin you have dear writer!
Writer: The Better to trick the public my son!

You have got to be kidding, right? Nancy Pelosi re-writing the rules so the republicans cant get a voice is the biggest stretch of truth I have heard in 2009, so far.
The reason the republicans cant get a fair voice has to with the elections in which they lost a majority of their seats.
The power base has been derailed, thank God. Give the democrats a chance. If they dont do better, I will write articles for you blasting them much the same way you already are- deal?
The American people have weighed in and they are tired of the republican’s crap. You had your eight years and loook where it landed us.

Before you talk about other people stretching the truth, let’s look at your own statements. “The reason the republicans cant get a fair voce has to with elections in which they lost a majority of their seats.”

Grammar and spelling issues aside, did they really lose a majority of their seats? A majority is more than half. I’m pretty sure they didn’t.

And as someone who was fairly active in parliamentary-style organizations, let me tell you, rules and procedures can take away someone’s power or add to it in very large ways.

Excuses, Excuses, you conservatives need to quit it. Obama hasn’t been sworn in yet and you are already at it. Sit back and relax, the next eight years is a long time. As for the seats they lost, they did lose a mojority of the races they were in. Doesnt really matter now anyway, the Dems have taken away their power as you said.
